We are very happy to share Animal Farm Residency Open Call 2024 for Zimbabwean Artists working in Printmaking!

The Animal Farm Residency in Zimbabwe was initiated and founded by our fellow Admire Kamudzengerere.

Application deadline: march 07, 2024

The Animal Farm Artists' studio and creative lounge welcome applications from artists, with the aim of building skills and promoting printmaking in Zimbabwe while fostering networking and collaboration with American printmakers.

Selected applicants will benefit from:

• material support for printmaking and access to the afar print facility.

• a two-week printmaking workshop at afar for 12 selected participants. From this initial workshop 6 participants will be selected for a further 2- week workshop with printmakers from Detroit. Participation in a group exhibition in Zimbabwe and Detroit for 6 artists.

• fully paid return flight for one finalist to ZCCD and Talking Dolls workshop in Detroit, USA.

How to apply:

• portfolio of work with at least 8 images of prints (max 15mb, to include titles, dates, sizes, and medium).

• a letter of interest or motivation.

• incomplete applications will not be considered.

Selection procedure:

• review of portfolios

• shortlisted applicants will be contacted for an interview.

• 12 artists will be selected for the initial 2-week workshop. Successful applicants will be notified by march 22nd, 2024

• 6 artists will be selected for further training and from this group 1 person will be selected for a residency in Detroit at the talking dolls workshop.

• Gareth Nyandoro: visual artist, founder, and director of Tarisa Art Studios.

• Fadzai Muchemwa: curator national gallery of Zimbabwe.

• Sabrina Nelson: visual artist, Detroit, USA.

• Wes Taylor-- visual artist and printmaker, founder of talking dolls workshop Detroit, USA.

• Joanna Powell and Josefina Pierucci, Bepa Gallery
